Granadillo is another Central American wood, primarily found in the Yucatan Peninsula and Mexico.

Frequently used for fine furniture and cabinetry, flooring, musical instruments, turnery, and specialty items such as violin bows and billiard cues.  Granadillo is an excellent alternative to Rosewood or Cocobolo.

This wood displays color variances from violet to dark red to brown with frequent streaking and pronounced figure. Very hard, heavy, and dense with a tight grain and a fine texture. Occasional light blond sapwood contrasts beautifully with the heartwood.
